Just when you think you have reached pork pie nirvana. When you think you have scaled the dizzy heights of pork pie-dom. Just when you think you have found the El Dorado of pork pies. THINK AGAIN!
What a find. What a taste. What a texture. What pastry. What a filling.
What on earth is he talking about you may ask? Well let me tell you!
Leesons Stilton & Chilli Topped Pork Pie. THAT is what I’m talking about. I’m not sure there are enough superlatives in the English language to describe this pie. It is just …… as Pack Man put it – “probably the best thing I have ever tasted”.
And yes, they ARE that good.
I have tried 3 times to get this pie from Leesons. Twice I failed for various reasons (mainly because I was chatting) and ended up with the ‘ordinary’ pork pie (which is anything but ordinary – see the review here). I FINALLY managed to get some Stilton topped pork pies this week and the wait was SO worth it.
Once again, after photographing the pie, I intended to have only a small piece of the pie. And yes, once again I ended up eating all of the pie (and it is not an insignificant sized pie). And even after eating it I wanted more more more!
Chilli Stilton Topping
The Stilton and sweet chilli jam just adds another dimension to the pork pie. What was already an extraordinary pie is made stellar with the Stilton and chilli. The chilli kicks in a few moments after the first bite. The warm glow builds up and envelops your face. The meaty filling is spiced perfectly and the pastry is impeccable.
These pies deserve a medal – oh I forgot. They already have a medal – many medals, they are AWARD WINNING PIES! Do yourself and your tastebuds a favour (flavour?) – go and buy some today!
