Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam

Not being a fan of chilli or hot/spicy stuff it took me by surprise that not only did I like this chilli jam, I LOVED it.

We have reviewed Tracklements Sweet Mustard Sauce HERE. It would be a good idea to read that post as well, as we explain in that post how to get to their great factory shop.

Chilli Jam

Now, lets talk chilli.
I am not a fan of chilli (or hot/spicey food in general, yes I am picky). Not a fan is a bit of a understatement. In fact if anyone mentions chilli to me I run away. But I thought what’s the use of only reviewing things I like. Take a bit of a walk on the wild side I told myself. Step out of my comfort zone. So I did – I bought Fresh Chilli Jam of all things. Can you imagine?

It says on the jar that it goes well with ‘fish, meats, sarnies and creamy cheeses’. Ok, challenge accepted. I thought I might try it out with some of the creamy Stilton I have filling up my fridge. I know that probably sounds like sacrilege to all the cheese afficionados out there, but I’m from Grimsby! We do things how we do things – that’s it.
My advice to those people who HAVEN’T tried Stilton with Fresh Chilli Jam is….TRY IT!

Tingle

Yes, the Chilli Jam does give a tingle to your mouth, but it is a warm gentle tingle and it goes soooo well with the Stilton cheese. I was just going to try a small sliver of Stilton with a tiny dab of Fresh Chilli Jam on it, but ended up cutting off slabs of Stilton and lavishing teaspoons of Chilli Jam on it. LOVELY! But there is a warning with this review though – Be careful, the Chilli Jam will become addictive!

Van Man Says: Not being a fan of chilli or hot/spicy stuff it took me by surprise that not only did I like this chilli jam, I LOVED it. I will be buying it again – it goes so well with Stilton (and I have a lot of Stilton in my fridge to get through) so I will need a few jars I think. In fact I am wondering if I’ll ever be able to eat Stilton again WITHOUT the Chilli Jam!

Pack Man Says: I thought that’s a bit tame for chilli jam, then it hits ya. Creeps up like a ninja. Sweet flavour then…BOOM! Veeeery nice indeed!

Van Man loved this relish/jam. It DOES go great with creamy cheese – I've still to try it on sarnies or with fish and meat. But I know it will be wonderful when I do.

Dewlay Crumbly Lancashire Cheese

I wasn’t sure what a ‘crumbly Lancashire cheese’ was to be honest. Is it like a cheddar? Is it a Wensleydale type cheese? Not really heard of a Lancashire crumbly cheese before.
