Chuckling Cheese – Boston Sausage

It is a good solid Lincolnshire sausage with a twist.
Chuckling Cheese

You know how when you live close to something you often put off visiting it saying because it’s so close you can do it any time, then you just end up never visiting it? Well this is probably a case in point. Pack Man and I have known about Chuckling Cheese for quite some time.
We’ve never been to sample any of their wares despite the fact they are just down the road in sunny Skegvegas (that’s Skegness for the uninitiated).
So Packman had an unscheduled visit to Skegvegas and made it his mission to stop at the Chuckling Cheese shop there and has picked up a large amount of products which we’ll review over the coming week or so.
You can find Chuckling Cheese in Skegness at the Hildreds Centre right on the main road in Skeg. There is ample parking at the rear of the Hildreds Centre, so when you next decide to go to the seaside for a day out why not go to Skegvegas and stop off at Chuckling Cheese?

Sausage From A Cheese Shop?

First up is Boston Sausage. Why Boston Sausage from a cheese shop you may rightly ask. Because when I broke down in my van a couple of weeks ago (see this post) and I was being towed back to Grimsby, the tow truck driver and I were talking about food (what else?), and he raved about Boston Sausage – having never heard of it I asked Pack Man and others from the area about Boston Sausage (apparently a north Lincolnshire favourite) and they too had never heard of it. Being the adventurous types we are, Pack Man and I decided that we MUST try it. Et voila, what just happened to be on sale in Chuckling Cheese? Boston Sausage!

Lincolnshire Sausage Hybrid

Lincolnshire is rightly famed for its sausages, and Boston Sausage sausages (how many ‘sausages’ can I get in in a sentence?) is extending that tradition. They are, according to the packaging, made ‘to a secret recipe’ by award winning family butchers near to….you guessed it, Boston in Lincolnshire (the original Boston not the one in the USA).
They look a little larger than ‘normal’ sausages and you can tell they are not your average sausage, the colouring is different from your bland supermarket bought fare and they have a lovely aroma while they are being cooked.

The Taste

Boston Sausage sausages taste…different. Thats for sure. It is quite difficult to describe the taste, but there is a tiny ‘kick’ to the sausages. The texture is very different to a ‘normal’ sausage as well.
It is a good solid Lincolnshire sausage with a twist.
In a fusion of stuff we’ve bought we tried out the Boston Sausages with Tracklements Sweet Mustard Sauce – a definite winner we think.

Pack Man Says: A nice taste and a nice texture. It is really complimented by the Tracklements Sweet Mustard ketchup. I enjoyed them. Will be back in Skegness in March so Chuckling Cheese will be getting another visit from me.

Van Man Says: A good, solid, tasty Lincolnshire sausage with a twist. I’ll be paying a visit to Chuckling Cheese when I’m next in Skegvegas.

Dewlay Crumbly Lancashire Cheese

I wasn’t sure what a ‘crumbly Lancashire cheese’ was to be honest. Is it like a cheddar? Is it a Wensleydale type cheese? Not really heard of a Lancashire crumbly cheese before.
